Mr. Fiorilla is a founder of Translux, a Dubai-based privately-owned natural resource company engaged in oil, gas and metal activities in the Arabian Gulf area. Mr. Fiorilla is a resident of Dubai, where he has had a presence since 2003.
He began his career in 1990 as an attorney with the law firm of Sullivan & Cromwell LLP, practicing in New York and London, where he was involved in a wide variety of corporate and financing matters, including project development and finance, private equity, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, capital markets, infrastructure, strategic finance and restructuring matters. From 1992 to 1993, Mr. Fiorilla was an attorney with Brosio, Casati E Associati (now Allen & Overy LLP) in Milan, Italy, afterward returning to Sullivan & Cromwell’s London office.
Mr. Fiorilla is an Adviser to the Nunciature of the Permanent Observer Mission of the Holy See to the United Nations and a member of the Holy See Delegation to the General Assembly. He serves on the boards of Save Venice, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection (formerly Chairman of the Executive Committee) and the Venetian Academy of Arts, Science and Letters. Mr. Fiorilla is a member of the Arab Bankers Association, the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), the Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House), a Fellow of the Foreign Policy Association and served on the Committee on Art Law, Committee on International Security Affairs, Special Committee on the United Nations, the Committee on International Law and the Council on International Affairs of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. He formerly served as a Trustee ex officio of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation.
